Matilda I Coming from Gecko Models

...a new 1/35 kit

Infantry Tank Mk.I (A11 Type I) Matilda I in 1/35

I am sure I am not the only modeller cheering in their house today, as Gecko Models have announced one of the most wanted plastic armour kits in years, the Matilda I. Not the most heavily armed tank, just a single machine gun, and not one of the most stylish to be fair, but the Matilda I had a great part to play in the Battle of France in 1940. Heavily armoured it could absorb a lot of punishment. There are three surviving examples at the Tank Museum, Bovington. I wrecked range target, one with a modern engine that is regularly displayed in the arena, and another very original example on display in the main museum building.
The first time we are seeing it as a plastic 1/35 kit, only done in resin before (by Accurate Armour), but now Gecko Models have announced they will soon be releasing a detailed kit of the Matilda I, with interior detailing as well, judging by the computer images of the kit that they have provided. I for one am excited to see this news.
No details of the release date as yet, so look out for news from the UK importers, Tiger Hobbies Ltd.
Thanks to Gecko for the news.
