Russian GAZ AA and AAA Trucks in 15mm

The Plastic Soldier Company

I have covered the previous release of these trucks in 1/72 scale, but the Plastic Soldier Company have also followed that up with a more recent release of the kit in 15mm scale, and this one has no less the 10 complete models in the box. There are actually 5 sprues in the box, and each sprue contains the parts for both a complete AA and a AAA truck. So, that means a two axle 4x2 (AA) and a three axle 6x4 (AAA) truck from each sprue, hence 10 models in total in the box.
Assembly is quick and quite simple, though the only assembly instructions are printed on the back of the box, and are quite small, and only show the AAA version. There is one thing I think it is worth mentioning and that relates to the bed of the bodywork. They need to be fitted the right way round. Look underneath and you will find indents in the cross beams, narrower at the front, wider at the back. With that in mind, they fit perfectly but I suggest always dry-fit the parts to test it out, you'll find it fits perfectly then. In addition, the truck sides give no obvious hint, but they are 'sided', so again, dry-fit the parts before applying any glue.
Another comment to make is that like other 15mm kits, the cab windows are moulded solid. You could remove them but there is no interior so you'd need to add seats as well. I choose to leave them solid, but finish them with simply a pencil. Rather than try to paint them, colour them in with a pencil. It also results in a nice sheen, like reflections from glass rather than a matt finish. Easy to do and I think it looks effective. Another nice option for all 10 trucks is that there is also a full tilt provided, which you can fit or not. No transfers in the box, but that is normal. PSC do have separate packs of transfers available, but these trucks were often seen without any particular markings.
Overall, ideal for wargaming, and with 10 complete models in the box, good value for money I felt.
