M1296 Stryker ICV Dragoon in 1/72

...a new small scale kit from Dragon Models

M1296 Stryker ICV Dragoon in 1/72

Developed from the Canadian LAV III, the General Dynamics Land Systems built Stryker. Well over 4,000 examples of the 8-wheel Stryker have been built, and one of the most recent developments is the M1296 Dragoon, which sees the basic ICV (Infantry Carrier Vehicle) given a new turret, armed with a 30mm Bushmaster Cannon. The first examples were delivered to the US Army at the end of 2017. An 8-wheel vehicle, it has the option to be put in full 8x8 mode, or more economically, just 4-wheel drive, or 4x8..
Now available here in the UK is a new 1/72 kit from Dragon Models, the first 'new' small scale kit I have seen from them for some time, though they have been re-releasing a number of their older kits. Simple costs and logistics mean that many model manufacturers can't keep their entire large range of models in production all the time, so they go for a cycle of availability.
This isn't a complex kit to assemble, and indeed is quite quick to build. The end result is quite pleasing.
A plain green colour applied, then a wash using Vallejo Dark Green, the transfers applied then a brush with pale green pigments to create highlights, using Tamiya weathering pigments, and finally some Ammo of Mig Jiminez Earth pigment.
Dragon kits are imported to the UK by The Hobby Company.
