Title: WW2 Vehicles Through the Lens 6
Author: Jon Feenstra
Publisher: PeKo Publishing
ISBN: 978-615-6602-50-3

Number 6 is the latest release in the WW2 Vehicles Through the Lens series, or simply TTL 6, from PeKo publishing. A 123-page hard-cover book, and in Landscape format with the archive photos printed one on each page, and with extensive captions adding extra detail to what we can see in each picture.
Following a standard style for this series, this new one is divided into six parts, each one devoted to a collections of photos of a different vehicle type. In this case we have selections covering the Kubelwagen, Tiger I, Gepanzerter Zugkraftwagen & 8.8cm Flak 18 'Bunkerknacker', 15cm s.I.G. (Sf) auf PzKpfw I Ausf B, the 15cm Hummel, and to round things off, the Somua S35/Pz.Kpfw.35S. It starts with 20 pages filled with detail photos of the Kubelwagen in many guises, in service, knocked out and captured examples put to use by their new 'owners'. Considering this has appeared just at the time of 2 new 1/35 Kubelwagen kits being released by Meng Models, this will be a great source of colour/detail options and diorama ideas. The Tiger I photos include a couple with a Tiger fitted with the narrow transport tracks rather than the wider combat track. My favourite section however is the one on the 'Bunkerknacker', an armoured body on the half-track, with a towed 8.8cm Flak 18. The 88 features a box of ready rounds fitted inside the left hand side of the gunshield, a feature we don't often see in models and I think this is the best ever collection of archive images of the Bunkerknacker that I have ever seen all together. In similar vein, the section on the 15cm s.I.G. gun on the Pz 1 Ausf B chassis is also very useful for the modeller, as it shows us great detail on these early SP guns, where the entire 15cm gun, complete with carriage, was simply mounted on the Pz I hull, protected by a simple armoured shield. Both the sections on the Hummel and the Somua 35S are equally good for the level of detail they put on show. Some in service and others knocked out.
If you haven't already checked out this TTL book series, then I'd suggest this one will make you a fan. Author Jon makes a fine job of adding information on each image with his extensive captions. I have been reading/collecting these photo books for many years, and this has very quickly come in as one of my favourites thanks to the subjects that have been chosen in this one.
Thanks to PeKo Publishing for the review copy.
