Title: The Flying Colours of Richard J. Caruana
Author: Richard J. Caruana
Publisher: MMP Books
ISBN: 978-83-67227-20-9

A Bookazine Collection number 1, a 48-page landscape format soft-cover collection of marvellous artwork, all from the hands of artist Richard J. Caruana, a celebration of his 50 years of aircraft illustrations.
This is a good cross section of the work from the author over the years, from the opening page with the index and a background of the Wright Flyer. This is followed by 9 separate sections, featuring some background text and a collection of profiles, many with additional details enlarged. The subjects feature the Airco DH2, SE5a, Seversky P-35, Short Stirling, IMAM Ro043, Desert Me 1092 of JG27, Douglas F4D Skyray and Fleet Air Arm Phantoms. All have a great selection of different aircraft profiles and colour schemes. To round things off, something a little different, a piece in memory of pilot James Livingstone Boyd, and the profiles of both a Spitfire and a Hurricane, which he flew in defence of Malta.
This is a super collection of aircraft profiles, and a marvellous indicator of 50 years of work as an aircraft illustrator. Over the years I have seen many examples of the authors' work and having them collected together in this way is a real pleasure to see. As it says, this is just volume 1 so I for one will be looking forward to seeing what comes next. One for aviation enthusiasts and modellers alike.
