Number 36 in the Polish Wings series, a 112-page soft-cover book from MMP Books.
The TS-11 Iskra was a Polish jet trainer which first flew back in 1960, and remained in service from 1963 through to the last training sortie in 1920. Initially powered by a British built Hawker Siddeley Viper engine but that was soon replaced by a Polish made version. It is an important aircraft for Polish aviation manufacturers, after the end of WW2 and a period of domination by Russia as part of the Warsaw Pact. Remaining in service with both Poland and India for over 50 years it has a long and distinguished career. In the book we are provided with the details of the development and service of the aircraft over its' lifetime, and it is packed with detail of the many units which operated the type over the years. Lots of good quality archive images, many of them in colour, along with a lot of first class colour artwork illustrating the wide variety of colour and marking schemes they have worn over time, and including the Polish aerobatic team. Add to that more artwork for the different squadron badges as well.
Another excellent addition to this growing series of books covering aircraft operated by the Polish Air Force over the years. It will interest aviation enthusiasts and provide a super reference and inspiration to modellers as well. I remain a fan of this Polish Wings series from MMP Books.
