Title: Lifecolor Painting Guide, Vol.2
Author: Various
Publisher: Mr Black Publications
ISSN: 2732-9224
The second volume on a series of Painting Guides for using Lifecolor acrylic paints, produced by Mr Black Publications. A 34-page soft-cover book with full colour throughout.
In this book there are 6 different articles, each by a different modeller. The first, entitled Genesis, is a 1/24 (75mm) full figure, a fantasy subject, and brush painted using standard Lifecolor paints to achieve not only some excellent flesh tones but also to create a metal finish on elements, but using non-metallic paints. This couple nicely to the second feature, by another artist, with another version of the Genesis figure, but this time a 1/12 (150mm) bust which again used non-metallic metals (NMM) for Gold elements and using colours which are now available in one of the most recent Lifecolor sets. The third article involves putting a sand/green camouflage and weathering to a 1/48 HobbyBoss kit of a German operated Pz KV-1B 756(r). Next in line is finishing some sandbag 'armour', fitting a Black Dog accessory set to the Tamiya 1/35 Italian M13/40. Next is a feature on creating a 'Rat-look' VW Beetle, with rust and mould/decay effects, a follow-up article to a rusting VW Golf that was in volume 1. Finally for this one, painting wood effects on an old wooden cart, using a MiniArt Farm Cart. This is a good one for crating the look of an old cart, with well weathered wood effects.
All the features are well explained to help show us how to achieve these amazing finishes, well explained and equally well illustrated, along with details of all the different Lifecolor paints used to create them. This one is available now from the UK importer of Lifecolor paints, The Airbrush Company.
Thanks to The Airbrush Company for the review copy.
