Title: Lifecolor Painting & Weathering Guide Vol.1
Author: Christos Katselos, Martin Hughes & Mr.Black Studios
Publisher: Mr Black Publications
ISSN: 2732-9224
A new 34-page card-cover book which dedicated to using Lifecolor Acrylic paints, one of my own favourite paint ranges. Three sections, each one covering a particular subject.
The first of the three fills 18 pages of the book, and explains in detail how to paint & finish a 1/35 female figure of a Russian sniper of WW2, complete with a ruined building base for a very nice vignette. Not only done using Lifecolor paints and weathering materials, but this also includes some extra historical background information. The second topic is a guide to painting a pair of German tank crew figures, and getting them completed in a time as short as 2.5 hours. That leaves the final subject of a rusted finish to a Revell 1/24 VW Golf GTi. Not only is each topic well illustrated with photos of the models in progress, but there are also colour chips in each one, illustrating the different Lifecolor products that were used.
Produced as a collaborative effort between Lifecolor producers Astromodel S.A.S. from Italy and well known hobby publishers, Mr Black Publications. With the English language text edited by Ken Jones this is a very helpful guide and some beautifully finished models. The other good news indicated on the cover is that this is only Volume 1, so we can look forward to more yet to come. I have long been a fan of Lifecolor paints so I am very pleased to see this new guide to making the very best from them.
Thanks to the UK importer of Lifecolor Paints, the Airbrush Company, for the review copy.
