Title: Hungarian Arms and Armour of World War Two
Author: Peter Mujzer
Publisher: Key Publishing
ISBN: 978-1-913870-64-5

Volume 3 in the Modern Wars series from Key Publishing, an illustrated book on the Hungarian Army during WW2. A small format 96-page soft-cover book.
The book begins with an Introduction that gives us the background to the history of Hungary, as part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the conditions which led to it becoming involved in WW2 on the side of the Axis. Then the first two of the six chapters set out the story of the Hungarian Army in WW2, along with their own defence industry resources. The remainder tackle each of the main weapons systems they employed, with Armoured Fighting Vehicles, Artillery. Infantry Weapons, and Motor Vehicles. Among all of these are not only German and Italian equipment, but plenty of their home grown products. These include AFVs such as the Turan, Zrinyi, Toldi tanks and assault guns and Csaba armoured cars. Their artillery included licence built Bofors guns as well as the purchase of German and Italian pieces as well as 9 armoured trains. As for motor transport, there were Hungarian built artillery tractors and a fine series of Botond trucks, alongside plenty of types supplied by Germany and Italy.
This is really a great reference source for anyone interested in the equipment of the Hungarian Army during WW2, with a comprehensive listing of the many types employed. In addition to the text, there are lots of archive photos, including some in colour, along with a number of colour artwork profiles as well. Some very useful information for historians, military vehicle enthusiasts and modellers alike, and all packed into a small format book which I think offers great value for money.
Thanks to Key Publishing/Pen & Sword for our review copy.
