...New Vanguard 298, from Osprey Publishing

Title: German Tanks in Normandy 1944
Author: Steven J Zaloga
Publisher: Osprey
ISBN: 978-1-4728-4320-3
Following on from a couple of recent books on the Allied tanks in Normandy, now it the turn for the Germans. New Vanguard 298 is a 48-page soft-cover book is a new release from Osprey, and from popular author Steven J. Zaloga. The armoured vehicles that faced the Allied D-Day invasion.
The book is split over 5 main sections. It begins with considering the Organisation, Panzer Operational Doctrine and Small Unit Panzer Tactics before moving on to Technical Factors, the pros and cons of their various designs. The largest of the sections then outlines their operations in the Campaign before finishing off with a Battle Analysis and some useful suggestions for further reading. Throughout the various sections there are plenty of data tables, archive images, maps, and of course the fine artwork we expect from Osprey books.
For a relatively small book it is packed with useful information, and from an author who knows his topic very well. Definitely one I'd recommend, really good value for money.
Thanks to Osprey Publishing for our review copy.
