German Fighter Aircraft of World War II...

...a Technical Guide from Amber Books

Title: German Fighter Aircraft of World War II
Author: Thomas Newdick
Publisher: Amber Books
ISBN: 978-1-78274-970-7

One of the neat Technical Guide series from Amber Books, and a very popular subject among modellers and aviation historians, the wide variety of German Fighter aircraft which equipped the Luftwaffe throughout the course of the war.
The book is split into an Introduction plus 4 main sections. These look at Biplanes, Single-seat Monoplanes, Heavy Fighters and finally Jet & Rocket Fighters. This in itself gives a great impression of the advances in technology in the 6 years of war. It started out with the biplane designs of the 1930s and ended with the advanced rocket fighters of the Me 163 and Ba349 Natter, and the Me 262 and He 162 jets. Each entry gives the basic history of the type, a very nicely done colour profile, specifications and a selection of archive photos sprinkled throughout the book.
For anyone looking for a handy general reference on the many types of fighter used by the Luftwaffe during the war, this is a really good choice. The artwork will also give plenty of inspiration to modellers as well. If you want greater detail on any particular aircraft then you will need a more focussed title, but for overall coverage this is very good.
Thanks to Amber Books for our review copy.
