Title: German Aircraft of WW1, 1914-1918
Author: Edward Ward & Ronny Bar
Publisher: Amber Books
ISBN: 978-1-83886-112-4
One of the latest in the Technical Guide series from Amber Books and it does a neat job of looking at the variety of aircraft types used by Germany in WW1. A 128-page, small format book which is also good value for money in this popular series.
There is an introduction to set the scene and then the individual entries for the different aircraft types are organised into 4 main sections. These cover in sequence Single-Seat Fighters, Two-Seater Reconnaissance & General Purpose, Ground Attack & Escort Fighters and finally, Bombers and Seaplanes. Each entry gives the basic statistics for the aircraft, along with its' development story and basics of their service history. Every aircraft also has a lovely colour profile artwork with a representative example of colours and markings. Some also have an archive photo, though that's not for every one. Many of the featured aircraft will be well known, such as the Fokker Eindecker, the Fokker Triplane, and the big Gotha G.II to G.V bomber. There is even an entry to include the Zeppelin airships.
I think this is a really handy little reference to have all these entries in the one good value book. Some interesting histories, and covering both famous and not so famous aircraft types. Happy to recommend this to all fans of these Technical Guide books from Amber.
Thanks to Amber Books for our example.
