A 72-page landscape format, soft-cover book packed with some marvellous full colour artwork, created by a number of different artists.
The first 6-pages are the text of the Introduction, which sets the scene for the different sections which follow, divided simply by nationality. The largest section covers aircraft used by France, before smaller sections on Great Britain, Germany and Italy. There are a good variety of aircraft types featured in the good quality colour profiles, some of which also have upper/lower surface views. French aircraft types include Morane-Saulnier MS.405, Dewoitine D.520, Curtis H-75A1, Caudron-Renault CR.714, Bloch MB.152, and Potez 631. For Great Britain there are Hurricanes and Gladiators, for Germany plenty of Me 109s and Me 110s, while for Italy there are the Fiat G50 and CR42. The final pages provide a page of colour chips before a selection of detailed illustrations of instrument panels, for the Bf109E, Caudron-Renault CR714, Hurricane Mk 1, Dewoitine D.520 and finally the Curtis H-75 Hawk.
A collection of high quality colour artwork, providing plenty of inspiration for modellers interested in this extra detail. Each illustration gives details of the aircraft, the unit, the colours used and in many cases, the names of the pilot who flew the aircraft. These are popular books these days, and this is a very good example, by a number of well known illustrators.
Thanks to the distributors, Script Books, for the review copy.
