Title: 2cm Flak 38 & Flakvierling 38
Author: Alan Ranger
Publisher: MMP
ISBN: 978-83-66549-11-1

Camera On 29 from MMP and another from author Alan Ranger. A 72-page soft-cover book packed with original wartime photos most of which haven't been published before.
After the first couple of pages give some good detailing on both weapons and how they were operated. The rest of the book is split roughly half and half between the single barrelled mount of the Flak 38 and the quad mounting of the same gun inn the Flakvierling. All the photos have informative captions provided, pointing out details on the 2 styles of weapon. With reference to the Flakvierling I can't remember reading before that it was first developed for the Kriegsmarine and then for the Luftwaffe and Heer (army). Among the examples in the photos there are ex-naval examples seen in land emplacements and with the slight differences such as staggered stowage of the spare magazines, which would have helped handling them with thick gloves on. Their mounting is also slightly different. For both weapons there are a selection of both fixed and mobile mountings and it is interesting to see how the larger gun shields were not fitted in many situations, though tended to be on mobile/vehicle mounts.
Another really excellent collection of photos, most of which we have not seen published before and which the author has been able to collect. I am a fan of this Camera On series of books and this one is another good addition to the series from MMP. Alan Ranger has done another great job on this one.
Thanks to Casemate UK, distributors for MMP, for the review copy.
