1/144 Propeller Planes

...a new book from Ammo by Mig Jiminez

Title: Ammo 1/144 Propeller Planes
Author: Various
Publisher: Ammo by Mig Jiminez
ISBN: 978-84-17846-32-9

One of the latest books from Ammo of Mig Jiminez takes on the topic of modelling the small 1/144 scale aircraft, and specifically propeller powered aircraft rather than jets. A large format, 143-page soft-cover book with 10 different projects completed by a number of very talented modellers, with text provided throughout in both English and Spanish.
Following an Introduction from the editor, Julio Fuente, we get 10 model builds showcasing a good variety of subjects that tackle a Fujimi B-29 Superfortress, a Revell Super Constellation, Mark 1 Models He 219 A-5 Uhu, the large Great Wall Hobbies Messerschmitt Me 323 D-1 Gigant, Sweet Models Nakajima A6M2-N Rufe, combining Eduard and Mark 1 Models kits to create a Spitfire Mk XIV, a Mark 1 Models Sea Gladiator Mk1, Sweet Models Me Bf 109 F4/Trop, a Sweet Models P-51B and finally a diorama project with pair of Nakajima Rufes in an Outpost beach setting. Each one is described in a step by step process and how the details were added and effects created, and each step in turn accompanied by high quality images illustrating the process described in the captions. Naturally the materials used are mostly Ammo products but there are lots of hints and tips on using them and other things among the different projects.
I have been modelling for well over 50 years but I still picked up some ideas to try from this one and these smaller scale models do seem to be having a resurgence in popularity these days. Beautifully presented and the good quality paper makes such a difference in the quality of the photos it uses throughout. Another excellent title in the series of modellers books from Ammo.
Thanks to Ammo by Mig Jiminez for our review copy.
